Checks

Materials checks and inspections

Prior to accepting each batch of material into the plant, RMB checks its acceptability by acquiring and reviewing appropriate documentation for the following three stages:

  • BASIC IDENTIFICATION: involves the identification of all the waste characteristics (type and origin, composition, texture and other characteristic properties that may include specific plant management information) and is undertaken before transfer.
  • COMPLIANCE TESTING: an analytical control is performed by a trusted laboratory to verify that the waste being transferred into the system (in storage as “under review”) is consistent with basic identification level.
    The compliance check is conducted every six months or when there is any significant change in the production process that generates the waste.
  • VISUAL AND SENSORIAL TESTING: visual and sensorial tests are undertaken to ensure that the incoming batch of waste matches the information entered in accompanying documents and that the physical characteristics conform to acceptance specifications, in other words that the waste has the same physical and sensorial characteristics of the batch of waste from which it was taken. The check is performed for each batch of waste transferred and may occur at the time of weighing or during pre-storage unloading. All transfers must be planned on a weekly basis.

For each transferred batch of incoming waste, the following checks are also performed:

  • entry in the weekly transfer schedule;
  • carrier authorization check (waste carrier enrolled in the relevant register);
  • accompanying documentation check;
  • radiometric check on material;
  • visual and type inspection of material on the means of transport;
  • visual inspection and detection of any undesirable presence in the unloading area.

The outcome of checks on individual loads is documented in the appropriate fields managed by special software used by R.M.B. S.p.A.
