The history

For over 35 years, RMB has been recovering new raw materials from the entire integrated waste cycle, i.e., from the whole chain of connected activities: collection, transport, treatment, recovery and disposal.

R.M.B. opened for business in 1981 as a conventional scrap metal collector and trader, at the Via della Chiesa plant, in Polpenazze (province of Brescia).

1993



Regional permit for the storage, sorting and recovery of 10,000 t/year of special waste.

2000



Increase of plant potential to 30,000t/year. Meanwhile, R.M.B. S.p.A. obtained authorization to install and operate a plant with a potential of 20,000t/year for recovery of non-hazardous special waste in the new area of Via Montecanale, also in the municipality of Polpenazze del Garda.

2001



Lombardy Regional Authority issues authorization to increase capacity to 30,000 t/year. The new R.M.B. S.p.A. plant was then built in the Via Montecanale area. In 2001, R.M.B. S.p.A. operations were transferred entirely to the new premises, next to the existing FIM srl facility.

2003



In 2003, FIM S.r.l. was incorporated by merger with R.M.B. S.p.A. , who acquired its permits. R.M.B. S.p.A. applied to Lombardy Regional Authority for environmental compatibility referred to an existing plant expansion project and the possibility of managing sites obtained from land reclamation, incineration slag from incineration of urban solid refuse and other inorganic-type waste for recovery, as well as waste with organic content like plastic and rubber.

2005



Brescia Province approves the expansion scheme presented with a capacity of 147,520 t/year.

2007



The Environmental Integrated Authorisation (Decree D.G. no. 5078/2007) is issued regarding the integrated prevention and reduction of pollution; at the same time authorisation is given for expansion of the site and an increase in the plant’s overall capacity to 187,520 t/year.

2008



The landscape permit allows development of the new portion of the site to the South

2010



Authorization was received to design and implement waste treatment processes and systems, including set up and service trial

2011



The R.M.B. S.p.A. plant was issued with a new integrated environmental authorization AIA Executive Act No. 3544 of 18.10.2011, by the Brescia Provincial Authority for IPPC activities covered by points 5.1 and 5.3 of Annex VIII to the second part of Legislative Decree 152/2006, and subsequent amendment and integrations for recovery (R13, R12, R3, R4, R5) and disposal (D8, D9, D13, D14, D15) operations, increasing overall plant capacity to 320.000 t/year.

2013




New mill for motor vehicles comes into service

2014



New latest technology sorting and enrichment plant for the recovery and recycling of very fine elements

2015



Extension of Integrated Authorisation for IPCC activities for recovery and disposal operations. Plant overall capacity 620,000 t/year

2016



In 2016, our plant to manufacture products/aggregates (cement-based (concrete blocks, cement mixtures, loose unbound aggregates) enters into operation.

2022



The Environmental Integrated Authorisation for 680,000 Tonnes was granted in 2022.
