Flotation and washing plant for produce secondary raw materials

The flotation and washing plant serves to separate the different types of material (especially metals) according to their specific weight (e.g., aluminium from mixed heavy metals such as copper, zinc, brass, lead, etc.).

The advantage of carrying out this separation will consist of the possibility, on one hand, of obtaining a more effective recycling process and on the other, to produce secondary raw materials or “clean” waste, which is easier to manage in other plant sections or in external systems for final recovery.

The material flotation system consists of a rotating barrel connected to a closed-circuit hydraulic system that allows continued recirculation of process water.
Dense medium (flotation) separation processes are used to treat minerals as well as to recover secondary raw materials.

As a concept, the process is very simple: when two phases of different densities are placed in a fluid of intermediate density, the phase with the lower density (lighter) will float, while the one with the higher density will sink (Archimedes’ principle). In the specific case of R.M.B. it is possible to separate aluminium from other mixed metals.
