Innovation and sustainable commitment

About RMB

Since 1981, we have been managing and recovering special waste – both hazardous and non-hazardous – by innovating our facilities and adopting sustainable solutions.

1981

RMB was founded in Polpenazze del Garda, near Brescia, as a scrap metal collector and trader, paving the way to becoming a leading company for the recovery and disposal of special waste.

1993

RMB obtained a regional permit to store, sort and recover 10,000 tonnes of special waste per year.

2000

The facility’s capacity was increased to 30,000 tonnes per year. At the same time, we obtained authorisation for a new recovery plant for non-hazardous special waste in the area of Via Montecanale (Polpenazze del Garda), with a capacity of 20,000 tonnes per year.

2003

An RMB plant, with a capacity of 30,000 tonnes per year, was launched at the new site in Via Montecanale, and FIM S.r.l. merged with RMB, thereby strengthening the multi-purpose platform for the recovery of special waste

2005

The Provincial Authorities of Brescia approved the extension of the RMB facilities, bringing the total capacity to 147,520 tonnes/year — a goal that consolidated our positioning in the special waste disposal market in the province of Brescia.

2007

RMB obtained an Integrated Environmental Authorisation (IEA – Directorate General Decree No. 5078/2007). At the same time, we obtained authorisation for the southward extension of the plant, increasing the capacity to 187,520 tonnes/year.

2008

The Province of Brescia issued a landscape authorisation authorising the construction of the new southward section of the facility.

2011

RMB obtained a new Integrated Environmental Authorisation (IEA) for industrial and special waste recovery and disposal operations, with a total capacity of 320,000 tonnes per year.

2013

A new shredder was installed for the treatment of end-of-life vehicles, thereby expanding the range of processes carried out at RMB's facilities

2014

An innovative HS technology plant was inaugurated for the selection and recovery of ultra-fine materials.

2015

The Integrated Environmental Authorisation (IEA) was extended for IPPC activities, bringing the plant capacity to 620,000 t/year.

2016

A plant to make products/aggregates (concrete blocks, cement mixes, loose unbound aggregates) was brought into operation.

2017

RMB registered the trademark for RESAL, its new product, made from aluminium alloy 46000, ready for casting by the end user.

2018

RMB acquired, renovated and launched the RIAM srl platform in Bollate, near Milan. The facility recovers scrap through multiple advanced processing units designed to separate the various metal fractions (both ferrous and non-ferrous) contained in waste.

2019

The S25 multi-plant for selecting and screening heavy metals was put into operation, further upgrading RMB’s plants with precision technology.

2020

RMB opened a dedicated selection plant for aluminium alloys, contributing to the reduced use of raw materials.

2021

RMB acquired and renovated GARM Srl, a platform in Gavardo, near Brescia, devoted to the recovery of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. In the same year, it purchased a share of Ri.genera (Marigliano, Naples), transforming it into a plant for the recovery of bottom ash from waste-to-energy plants

2022

The Integrated Environmental Authorisation (AIA) has been increased, allowing RMB to manage up to 680,000 tonnes/year.

2023

RMB acquired RMI Srl (Castelnuovo del Garda, Verona) and AUTORE Srl (Settimo Torinese, Turin). The Verona-based company specialises in the treatment of end-of-life vehicles and WEEE, including photovoltaic panels, while the Turin-based company collects end-of-life vehicles in North Western Italy.

2024

RMB purchased Tobanelli SPA in Bedizzole (Brescia). The company specialises in the treatment and recovery of aluminium.
